Coconut shell has good characteristic as activated carbon material i.e high hardness, small & medium pore distribution, and impurities content in the intrinsic pore. R & D dept. AIMTOP has developed new process technology to produce activated carbon from coconut shell with high efficiency process. The product under brand name KARBOSORBŪ, has broad spectrum uses in the several industries.
Acquiring integrated and controlled production system, AIMTOP is highly desirable to comply with customer varios needs of quality product based on their application. Technology inovation, especially in energy recovery, has reduced energy cost as our biggest fraction of production after raw material. Therefore, we could offer quality product with very competitive price.
Stages in KARBOSORBŪ production:
- CARBONIZATION
Raw material Coconut Shell is heated at temperature 300 - 500°C, in absence air, to release moisture & volatile content as well as to make initial pore structure of carbonaceus material. Product of this process is called Coconuts Shell Charcoal.
- PREPARATION/SCRENNING
Impurities in coconuts shell charcoal is removed by physical processes in the equipment preparation. This is to ensure that the raw material ready to activated is free from impurities that could disrupt activation process and product purity.
- ACTIVATION
The activation reactor used is vertical kiln with integrated energy recovery ( high temperature moving bed reactor ). This integrated system allows energy to be recycled, therefore no additional fuel is needed in activation process. By passing the raw material through high temperature reactor (800-1100°C) in the presence of a stringently controlled flow of steam used as the activation agent, the activation provess will produce high quality activated carbon with high active surface area (800 - 1200 m2/gr) in the carbon. This technology is developed by R & D Depatement of AIMTOP.
- GRINDING
Crude/chips activated carbon is crushed in Grinder Mill to produce activated carbon powder. Here, pneumatic separation system is used to ensure the powder size uniformity (200-325 mesh). Careful and accurate controll allows product size production based on customer order.
- CRUSHING
The purpose of this process is to produce granular activated carbon, based on customer need. Multistage screening sytem equipped with dust removal equipment will ensure very good uniformity coefisien and minimum dust content in produt.
